Cannibalism and Ladybirds

Cannibalism in ladybirds is very familiar in nature. Cannibalism is the act of killing and consuming an individual of the same species. Basically ladybirds prefer to feed on aphids but when aphids are scarce they don't hesitate to devour their own eggs, larvae, pupae as well as newly emerged adults to remain alive.
