St. Patrick's Day - What's it All About Anyway?
by
Alice Krueser
I don't know anything about St. Patrick or why we are supposed to wear green on that day, but.........I wear green on St. Patrick's Day.......and so does almost everyone else. It's fun! Drink green beer and go around asking people to kiss me because I'm Irish...for the night anyway. But, what is all of this really about? Like I said, heck if I know. So here goes. Here's some "Did You Knows" that I've learned about St. Patrick, Ireland and this celebrated day.

Erin Genealogy Go Bragh - Irish Ancestry Research Forever
by
Nancy Siddons-Daniels
Irish genealogy research is never as easy as you think it will be, and it's never as difficult. Whether your goal is to trace your Irish ancestry and map your Irish genealogy; obtain dual Irish-American citizenship based on jus sanguinis (law by blood), or you crave a Certificate of Irish Heritage, your ability to research your Irish ancestry is now easier than ever. Some genealogical researchers would love to scare you witless about delving into your Irish genealogy. That's a lot of blarney. You can definitely make substantial headway on researching your Irish family tree - with or without genealogical services. This article offers vital genealogy research resources and genealogical services available to genealogists and genealogical researchers, searching Irish ancestry and Irish genealogy.

The Red-Headed League of Megalith Builders
by
Robert Baird
"Caitlin." Sean said as she walked away, he couldn't tell if she heard him or not, but he could tell that she knew what he was 'feeling'. He ordered some Huevos Rancheros, toast, and coffee with other ground nuts that tasted even better than it smelled. When Caitlin returned she was all business. She told him the ship would be leaving soon before going up to her room and getting her things...

A St. Patrick's Day Toast to Irish Runners Marcus O'Sullivan and Eamonn Coghlan
by
Ed Bagley
A week before St. Patrick's Day I bought a pair of Saucony Kilkinney cross-country racing flats. They are a screaming Irish green and stick out like neon lights. It reminded me of the Sports Illustrated magazine cover I have on my office wall recording the moment from 1994 when Eamonn Coghlan broke the tape at the finish line to become the first man over the age of 40 to run a sub-four-minute mile. Any day is a good day to raise a glass of Jameson Irish whiskey to the likes of Marcus O'Sullivan and Eamonn Coghlan, but an even better day when it is St. Patrick's Day.

Holidays, Special Celebrations And Coffee Drinking: Why People Enjoy Them So Much
by
Timothy S. Collins
People celebrate a variety of holidays throughout the year for many different reasons: secular, religious, international, personal, or uniquely American. Some days have special meaning to some people such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries, graduation day, or because they are the occasion to participate in a large parade and partying such as Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana. Many holidays are associated with the changing of the seasons. Drinking coffee is fun and a great way to sit around a table or on a couch and have a memorable conversation with loved ones.
