Videogames As Art - The Battle Continues
by
J. Lee Wilson
In his most recent blog post, Roger Ebert once again reiterated his ideas of video games never being art. In this article, I take a look at how the gaming community handled things the wrong way, and give my own take on the matter.

Your Ego and Guy Ritchie's Film, "Revolver"
by
Freddy Caple
Sometimes a movie isn't what it appears to be. Guy Ritchie directed a film called "Revolver" that got a very poor critical reception, but it hasn't stopped the movie from gaining a strong cult following. This is a film that is less action and adventure and more of a think piece. Can you give it your time and consideration, with an open mind?

Oh No! Not the Critics
by
Dinah Jackson
To be honest, I've heard a number of people in my life say, "My mother always says don't criticize unless you can do it better yourself," but I've never actually heard a mother say that to a child. In any case, we all know that is not wisdom. There are lots of things in the world that I can't do at all but nevertheless can criticize. But why criticize? Or to put it another way, what is the utility of criticism? Don't misunderstand me.

How Proudly it Waves
by
Gene Lalor
Leftists, liberals, "progressives" are all fond of Dr. Samuel Johnson's definition of patriotism, that it's the last refuge of scoundrels, and use it to attack conservatives, flag wavers, anyone with great pride in our country. According to Thomas Boswell, Johnson's biographer, the lexicographer never meant to impugn true patriotism but rather false, phony, insubstantial love of country, all of which adjectives perfectly describe the sentiments of leftists, liberals, and "progressives."

"Chariots of Fire" Is Very Simply the Greatest Running Movie Ever Made
by
Ed Bagley
Chariots of Fire, released in 1981, was a British film written by Colin Welland and directed by Hugh Hudson. It would draw moviegoers everywhere by winning 4 Oscars at the Academy Awards for Best Picture (Producer David Puttman), Best Original Screenplay (Colin Welland), Best Original Music Score (Vangelis) and Best Costume Design (Milena Canonero). Chariots of Fire is more than the greatest running movie ever made, it is also one of the greatest films ever made.

Changing Addictive Behavior: Where Do We Find The Strength To Be Miserable?
by
Larry Barkan
Film critic Roger Ebert, writing in his Chicago Sun Times blog on November 12th, 2010, noted that he knows people who have volunteered to answer Alcoholics Anonymous phone numbers in Chicago. Ebert wrote that one person "after doing this for a time, wondered where people found the strength to keep on drinking despite the misery it was causing them." Strength??? How odd... until I thought about it. Then I wondered where any of us find the strength to maintain our misery.

Games As an Art
by
Chris M Ingram
Games as an art have been a long running debate and many have chosen sides, the greater side seeing games as just entertainment. Games as art are a big debate because the youth and content of games sometimes displays immature ideas and provide trivial entertainment.

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards - Some Thoughts
by
Ezra Stead
The 83rd Annual Academy Awards have now come and gone, and as usual, I have a few gripes. Nothing too unexpected happened, but you must understand this is my Super Bowl: an excuse to get drunk and yell at the TV each year, so I can't help but complain a bit about some of what went down the morning (and the rest of the week) after. Please bear with me.

by

Facebook fan pages have been so useful lately not only because it is a way for Facebook users to make connection with people who are not part of your circle of Facebook friends.
