Was the Serpent in the Garden of Eden the Devil?
by

When we review our attitude about serpents today it is hard to grasp the fact that in the original creation the serpent was beyond question the most beautiful, compelling, and desirable of all the animals. He was sage, personable, easy, smooth, and wise. The serpent was a visionary--the one who had all the answers, the weaver of magic spells--the enchanter. Who and what was this serpent? What did he want? Why was he there? Was this serpent the devil? What does the Bible tell us about this that will answer this question?
